I am 42 and have had a partial in hysterectomy in 2003. My mother had breast cancer and I won’t take pharmeceutical grade hormones. I am having issues with hot flashes, mood swings, hair loss and and just recently weight gain. I have tried to search the internet with no success. I would appreciate any help that I can get at this point.

I'm not doing HRT because of the side effects and the long time I would have to do it. I've already gone through my menopause. I've noticed I am getting the same body changes as my mom, i.e. hair where I don't want it, memory loss, weird weight gain, change in my skin texture. Has my body turned into the body of a 60 year old?

Please help!!!! .?

I have not had my period in 2 1/2 years. I have talked to my doctor and he said that it was a psycholgical problem. The thing is, I don't know how to get my period back! What are the consequences of not having your period? Has anyone else been in my situation? What side affects may arise from a lack of period? Hair loss? Weight gain? Please let me know.

PS I'm 18, so not menopause age.

I am suffering from hair loss, weight gain, depression, and low sexual drive. I quit using estrogen about 2 years ago. My doctor recommended I start using vegetable hormones, but looking on the internet there are so many diferent kinds, Anyone know which is best?

I see many posts ridiculing mature women on this forum. Some of these middle-aged women are going through or have gone through menopause. However, men go through a similar transition:

"There is a basic set of identifiable symptoms which signal changes in hormones. These symptoms include some of the same symptoms women experience:

Diminished sexual drive
Urinary changes
Lack of energy
Decrease in strength and/or endurance
Lost height, back pain
Decreased “enjoyment of life”
Irritability, anger, and grumpiness
Depression or withdrawn
Erections less strong
Deterioration in sports ability
Falling asleep after dinner
Decreased work performance
Joint aches and stiffness of the hands
Premature aging
Changes in hair growth and skin quality
Loss of physical fitness, weight gain, and “beer” bellies
Hot flashes
Increased anxiety
Loss of self esteem
Decreased memory and/or concentration"

Why are only menopausal women ridiculed? Why not menopausal men too?
Here is tons more info:

According to one poster – who has "been there" himself, andropause IS of concern. If it weren't of concern to men then why would men seek to treat the symptoms? Verstehen?
