natural remedies?
Does anyone know a natural remedy for hair loss in children?
We have consulted a health professional already of course. They do not know the cause of the alopecia and none of the conventional treatments have worked.

Unfortunately there is no sure fire remedy. In adults they have concluded that it is hormone related triggered by stress and deficiency or by sickness. In children it could be stress related or sickness. Children tend to internalize their stress a lot which causes a lot more systemic problems. There stress is not like adults stress. They could be having night terrors or afraid of their school and we wouldn't even know how they are dealing with it. I would check with your pediatrician to rule out sickness then deal with a naturopath if you are looking for natural remedies for stress at least. Don't take advise on the boards for remedies for children, just in case you have adverse effects from the remedy you have nobody professional to consult with in person. Some pediatricians have open minds about naturopathic medicine.
I think it would be important to find the cause of hair loss, rather than self-diagnose or self-treat. Hair loss in children is a more prevalent occurrence than most people imagine. Currently children's hair loss is responsible for approximately 3% of all pediatric office visits in this country.
Common causes are ringworm, a simple physiologic pause in hair growth, alopecia, etc.

I read somewhere that coconut oil may help, but you may want to ask a professional to be sure it's okay to use on a child.
